Brittany and Dalton’s wedding at Black Canyon Inn in Estes Park is what gothic romanticism dreams are made of! The couple utilized the venue’s Homestead site which was the perfect backdrop for dramatic ceremony views and moody ambiance for their reception. Julia Susanne Photography’s warm, cinematic style, captured their wedding day gorgeously, not only in the imagery, but also in the palpable mood coming through each photo.

Their first look was at the iconic pond on the venue’s property, where Brittany crossed the wooden bridge for an intimate moment with Dalton prior to their ceremony. Nature was working hand in hand with the couple, bringing in rainstorms during their ceremony, reflecting a moody atmosphere and Brittany reflects that this was her favorite moment of their wedding day.

“Our ceremony was during a thunderstorm. We said our vows with thunder booming through the canyon and lightning shooting across the sky. There was a beautiful mist in the air as we cried and told each other what we meant to one another.” – Brittany Thorns

After their ceremony, the wedding moved indoors for an intimate, moody reception. The couple’s cake was decorated with decadent, textured frosting and topped with two birds lovingly carved by the bride’s grandfather.
